Friday Dec. 14th will go down in history as the worst day in the world for 28 parents. No matter their ages, no parent wants to get a phone call that their child has been taken home before them. For many this tragedy has created questions and doubt about our world and our future. To that I say...we should have been concerned thousands of years ago.
I do not mean to be insensitive but if you are in fear of your children being in public after Friday's events, you have missed the opportunity altogether. God did not create man to be evil. Man chose to be evil. I think about the Lord's perfect plan and how He created a self-sufficient world for us where we could walk with Him in harmony daily. And we, with free will, throw it to pot.
Now here we stand wanting to know why? Why do bad things happen? Why is there pain? Why would God "let" this happen?...Because this was not His plan for us. This is not the world He wants for us. So what will happen? Evil and dark things because we are fighting a darkness that wants this for us. That wants murder and violence, bickering over politics and opinion. Being depressed by rules, regulations, and negativity. That is what darkness wants. He wants your soul and everything you care about.
So what's the solution? Believe. Believe in the promises of a Father who sent his son as a baby into this fallen world to save us and restore the plan God has for us. Believe in a Father who will return us to the garden and the perfect self-sufficient world that He intended. Believe that man was created good, and underneath every evil deed is a goodness that can be restored.
Believe that you can confidently live each day with the knowledge that GOD IS STILL in control and that His plans for your life does not include fear! It is greater than anything you can imagine. Give you neighbor the hope that you know this Christmas season.
We are raising our children in a fallen world. But if we instill in them the hope that we have in Christ, and lift them up with His love and joy, they will not fall with it.
